The business model is clear, they charge an advertising fee to the advertiser and pay a fraction to the publisher. Some advertisers may pay more depending on different factors, as usual. The reviews were ok compared with other ad networks so I decided to give it a try for our addin. After evaluating other pay per download alternatives that did not convince to us, we finally created an account in Install Monetizer and move forward to install the bundle in our own installer.

Here are the results so far after several months of use.

Total earnings reported by Install Monetizer wer $1.55 for the last year range in the report. However, the stats didn’t show very well compared with our own records. In WordPress we added a download button and can count exactly how many downloads were made.

Our WordPress installation and the Download Monitor plugin reported 261 downloads. Well, some of these downloads may not be installations, we all can agree, but definitely this is not close to the 42 total installs reported in Install Monetizer.

After going back and forth with the support we didn’t get a clear understanding why this was happening. First, we were told that the bundle in Install Monetizer could work very well with any installer. This was wrong.

Also note that our new system can work with any installer. So if you find an installer that is not listed – you can do the below to integrate our exe.

In an email before we choose which installer to use, we were told this:

Embedding Exe into installer - this is the new method that will work will all installer types. You can do this by going into your account page. Then clicking on your Co-bundle link. Right under your co-bundle url you will see a link saying DIRECT EXE. That is the co-bundle exe that has to be embedded into your installer (and it works will all installer types). You will also see the once you download the direct .EXE.

However, after some weeks where no all the installs were counted, we were told this:

Hi, sorry for the delay.

Is this plug-in based with a Visual Studio installer?

Our co-bundle code does not work with Visual Studio.

So, take your own conclusions if you are evaluating to use Install Monetizer to monetize your software. $1.55 for 4 months can not pay even the coffee for 1 day of a developer.

Our recommendation is that we require prepayment before the campaign goes live. If the client becomes a regular client then you can discuss with them about other flexible terms, for example Payment Terms NET30 or NET45, which means that they will pay you 30 days after the campaign was started to run. Be careful, this is not 30 days after the completion of the campaign, unless they explicitly agree with you.

Business payment terms may differ from one industry to other, but in online advertising industry we can see a variety of options. Adsense payment terms for example are such kind of Standard payment terms of Net 30 days, but in this case the standard payment term counts from the time the invoice was raised, which means after 1 month you successfully run ads in your website.

Note that all terms of sale should be clearly specified. Even if you use Net30 or Net45 or any other variant. For example,”net 30 days” should be specified as “net 30 days from acceptance” or “net 30 days from date of bill” or “net 30 days from date of shipment”or “net 30 days from date of invoice for services”. This will clearly help to avoid any confusion and delay of payment.

The table above shows a general list of well know payment terms that you can use. In particular, if you want to charge the customer in advance, you can use the CIA Payment term, which means Cash In Advance, and this means you’ll charge your client before you deliver the product or services.

So, last year I wanted to do a test. My brother needed a new computer and I decided to buy it at B&H, which have an affiliate program on CJ. I usually receive their promotions by email to my affiliate user including the link to be placed for tracking purposes in the website.

So, before proceeding I went ahead and read CJ Terms of Service and I didn’t notice anything telling that I , as an affiliate user, couldn’t buy products in that merchant. Then I moved forward and using one of these links in the promotions I decided to make the order and paid $ 3400 for 2 Mac computers and a couple of additional Memory for Mac.

The order was shipped properly and I got the computers, but after a few weeks I couldn’t see the transaction registered on Commission Junction CJ, while running the reports or the credited commissions that were supposed to be there. After I got surprised the transaction didn’t appear there, I contacted B&H Affiliate program and Commission Junction.

Finally, they responded me in order to clarify the situation.

I explained, and also sent them the order #, tracking link, date/time, etc. The only thing I couldn’t send them was the “cookie”, that I should have store in my computer for future records.

I won’t paste what they said, because it has no sense to be published here, but I was totally disappointed to hear that “there was a tracking problem with the link…”

So what?

I got more disappointed to hear what was next. They would reconsider crediting me the commissions if I guarantee them that I’ll continue sending traffic for 3 months!

So, what? CJ Account manager, we aren’t in 1900′s anymore. This is XXI century. So, I’ll stop writing what I think about CJ, but definitely this demonstrated that this big network should change some people in the management in order to improve the level of credibility but also proved that all the links on the net talking about CJ Scam or the same may be talking about the truth.

OpenX also supports transparent Flash banners, if your flash banner has a transparent background. OpenX changes the embedding code accordingly to allow the transparency. OpenX does not transform the Flash file and can not make it transparent – the original file must have transparent parts in the first place.

When you upload a flash banner, the OpenX will ask for a backup image of the flash banner. The backup image will be displayed in case browsers do not support rich media.

Usually there are different ways to activate your card, calling by phone number is a possibility, but the easier way is activating it through the web. To do that you need to login to Payoneer account center:

1. Click on My account
2. Enter Username and Password (this was set when you applied for the card)
3. Click on Activate Your Card
4. Select 4 digit PIN number and submit
5. Receive your confirmation email for activation

Then, you can start using your card in any ATM or online. Also, some countries allow you to do cash back operations, that is instead of using your card at ATM you can request money at the counter.

Once you start using your Payoneer Card, you can apply for an online virtual bank account. This has a strong benefit if you are non-US citizen, since will allow you to do banking operations with US banks without leaving your country.

If you already had funds in an old Payoneer card, then all the funds will be automatically transferred to your new card. As they said in the confirmation screen: “If your new card replaces a previously active card, funds and services will be transferred from the previous card to the new one. Please allow 2 hours for the transfer to complete. Do not use it unless funds are loaded. Some ATM’s will “eat” your card, if you use it without any funds available.”

Payoneer do not have affiliate programs yet, if you planned to earn some money referring users to Payoneer. I think you should wait until they implement the affiliate system.

Login to your PayPal account and go to History > Basic Search. There, you can set a filter: Filters > Subscriptions > Subscriptions and Agreements. Lastly, you can see all activity regarding subscriptions.

However, if you want to see Subscriptions from your customers, you can see them on Profile > Recurring Payments Dashboard.
