Why? I am not sure, but seems people is having the same problem. At GetSatisfaction we can see that Ronni had the same issue.

This may be caused by a full Sent folder, but usually happens with IMAP accounts, since this error came from an IMAP protocol message.

Roland’s instructions from that page suggested:

After following Rolands instructions, I took it one step further and fixed my issue. maybe this will work for you as well.
Right click on the sent folder in the e-mail program, scroll down to Properties, click on the General Information and make sure there is a Tick in the; Don’t delete any messages, and make sure there is NO tick on the; Always delete read messages. Test to see if this works for you. This issue actually caused me to stop using Thunderbird until todays last ditch effort to fix this issue. Happy am I that it’s working for me now!

So you can try to do that. They also suggested to follow these instructions.

Creating Templates for Constant Contact or any other newsletter system requires some basic and advanced techniques in order to avoid mistakes when sending the newsletter to our mailing lists.

We can refer to many forums around and find valuable information about how to create Constant Contact newsletter templates.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the comment sent by Ezra who said:

First of all, don’t create a contact form in Photoshop unless you really need some kind of image-based design present. Even then, any text and form elements should be created in the code, either by hand-coding or by using a WYSIWYG editor. You could assemble it using Dreamweaver or a similar application (although the best way to develop this sort of page is really by using a dynamically-driven, server-side process, but that’s a longer discussion), and you should take care to make sure any text elements are styled using Cascading Style Sheets, rather than exporting custom fonts out of Photoshop. Why? First, for accessibility reasons: anyone who is visually disabled will still be able to use the form without creating a lot of extra work for you, and you can still style the elements quite creatively using CSS. Also, it will be much more easily maintainable but other developers in the future, and won’t require Photoshop to make a simple text change.

We understand that Ezra suggest to avoid images unless it is completely required for us. Those images should be sliced from Photoshop or any other image tool and the content in the newsletter template should be converted to HTML without CSS rules. That’s important, because many modern web design tools add CSS rules and most of the mailing system do not treat CSS rules since that makes the result dependant on the user’s email client.

How can you create your own templates for Constant Contact?

You can import your own custom code (HTML or XHTML) emails, rather than use the Constant Contact editor and templates to create an email. As an alternative to using your own design, you can choose from a variety of html templates and customize them later with the wizard.

Avoiding mistakes

Here are a couple of recommendations when working with Constant Contact custom template emails.

Avoid mixing CSS and HTML.

Use only standard HTML tags.

Use relative URLs

Avoid usage of Javascript

Avoid using IFRAME since it is not supported by many email clients

Be careful with image maps

Using PHP you can easily know if your request was using AJAX or not. I found this interesting article published on ElectricToolbox that explains how to determine if a Request is using AJAX or not in PHP. By using it you can easily branch your code for AJAX based calls and normal calls. For example, it may be useful when you need to generate different response depending on the request type.

Basically what they explain is that you can a simple define that is set to TRUE if HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH variable is set to “xmlhttprequest” as a server variable.

define('IS_AJAX', isset($_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH']) && strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH']) == 'xmlhttprequest');

Then you can easily use an IF condition to determine if the call is AJAX ir not, by using the IS_AJAX definition.

if(IS_AJAX) {
    // it is an AJAX Call
}
else {
    // it is not an AJAX Call
}

And that’s all.

Optimizing a location for Google Maps is really easy. Notice that not all the people or businessmen optimize their business for Google Maps.

Something important you need to have in mind is that Google Maps can show your business in their maps during a search. Maybe the most important step is to include geo tags into the homepage head.

<meta name="geo.position" content="25.78,-77.799688">
<meta name="geo.placename" content="Cococay, Bahamas">
<meta name="geo.region" content="BS">

The previous example shows how to add geo.position, geo.placename and geo.region tags. The purpose is simple, search engines that takes seriously geo coordinates will search for this info in the <head> variable.

If you want to remove .svn folders from a directory in Windows, for example let’s say that you need to import an existing repository into a new repository and do some clean up, then you can even use the Windows batch or commend line to do that.

The easiest way is that you create a simple .bat file in the directory where you want to remove .svn folders recursively.

Then, you can add the following content:

FOR /F "tokens=*" %%G IN ('DIR /B /AD /S *.svn*') DO RMDIR /S /Q "%%G"

Finally, just go to your command line and run the .bat file and all your .svn folders will be removed recursively. At this point you are ready to import the content into a new SVN repository.

A few rules in .htaccess

A small PHP script

By using this kind of methods you can extremely reduce the HTTP requests loading times in your applications. For example if you have many external JS or CSS files.

This is something that I usually forget so I decided to post it here, probably would be helpful for someone else. If you want to configure multiple outgoing server settings in Thunderbird then you need to go to Account Settings and scroll down to find Outgoing Server (SMTP) as shown in the following screenshot.

Then you can add your new SMTP server configuration by clicking the Add button.

Afterwards you can use any of your outgoing SMTP servers when configuring a new email account. If you have multiple email accounts then you can setup each one with its own SMTP server settings.
